About us
Happy Place Books started with a problem we couldn't solve by shopping harder.
We wanted a place where our daughter could pick her own books off a shelf built at her height. A place where the kids on the covers looked like her, and where a bookstore visit felt like an outing instead of an errand.
Most bookstores treat children as an afterthought, just a small section tucked into the corner of an adult space. For Black families and families of the global majority, the gap goes further than the shelves. It's the room itself, and whether it was built with you in mind.

Book us
We pack the whole shop into a car and set it up wherever you are. Two ways to do it:
Baby showers
From $125
We build your baby’s first library. The right books for right now and three years from now.
• Curated registry page, built with you on a video call
• Bookplates guests sign at the shower instead of cards
• Drop-off, or we come and set up on the day
Birthdays
From $150
Books as party favors, picked by you. Every kid goes home with something worth keeping forever.
• You choose the titles by age and headcount
• Wrapped and labeled, delivered before the party
Have a space? Host a pop-up.
Coffee shops, play spaces, studios. No cost to you.
Tell us about your event
Send the date and roughly how many people. We usually reply same day, and there’s no charge to ask.
